Carbon frame
The Pilot features a clean frame design unlike other chairs - with carbon fibre side panels and seat pan, and lower aluminium tubing. This keeps the Pilot extremely light - meaning you and your child have less weight to propel around, and also makes it lightweight for easier transport. The panels allow for easy adjustments to the chair - including two inches of seat width growth and three inches of seat depth growth. Brakes are built into the side panels for easy and safe access.
Options
The unique footrest design makes it easy to get the correct seat to footrest height, without the need for additional "high mount" parts. It has more adjustability than a standard one that can be limited by the chosen frame angle, ensuring the legs are always optimally positioned. Every part of the chair can be configured to suit your needs, and popular options include the light mag wheels that remove the need for spoke guards.
Transport
With its light carbon frame, the Pilot is easy to lift into a car. Simply fold the back down to reduce the space it takes up - and optionally remove the quick-release rear wheels too to make it even more compact. The Pilot is also available with transit tie-down points, should it be needed for occupied transport.
Appearance
The Pilot's unique frame is available in four different colours, plus your choice of four accent colours. If you opt for the X-Core mag wheels or Spinergy wheels, you can further customise the wheel colour, to make the Pilot stand out even more.
Our Verdict
The Pilot is a little different to other paediatric wheelchairs out there - its unique carbon and aluminium hybrid frame doesn't have an equivalent. We would really recommend trying it out to feel just how light it is, and see the difference this makes.
