The Pride Baja Bandit Mobility Scooter is all about compactness and its suitability for varied terrain.
The scooter weighs in at 72.3kg without batteries and has an overall height of 101cm and length of 126cm. Pride claim the Baja Bandit is the most compact 8mph scooter on the market. This design enables an impressive 134.7cm turning radius making it ideal for tight or challenging spaces. The added suspension provides for a smoother ride and the solid tyres will guard against punctures when you're out and about off the beaten path.
The scooter breaks down into 5 sections for easier transportation with the heaviest piece weighing around 31kg. This is still a significant weight and you might need someone to help lift it or use a car hoist but it does make putting it in a car boot possible which is not usually an option for an 8mph full-size scooter. This feature makes it ideal for day trips but it's not really designed as a boot scooter for everyday use, mainly due to its weight.
The swivel seat and tiller are both adjustable which helps to find the optimal position when using the Delta controls. The powerful LED light, indicator lights, mirror and basket are handy features which are a standard for scooters of this type. It comes in sage and tan colours.
Built-in electromagnetic regenerative brakes bring you safely to a stop, putting power back into the batteries whilst you are braking. And the lightweight lithium batteries provide for a significantly longer range than many road scooters without compromising the overall scooter weight. The 20 Ah lithium battery can take you up to 14.5 miles and an upgrade is available to 40 Ah potentially reaching 29 miles.
Our Verdict
If you're looking for an 8mph compact scooter suitable for rough terrain there are few direct comparables to the Baja Bandit. It will take you up to 8 mph in comfort and it's portable. However, if you're happy with the lesser speed limit of 4mph, the Pride Revo 2.0 should be a consideration. The eFoldi Explorer could also be an option as it's portable, lighter and will also travel up to 8mph but its quite a different model in terms of setup, handling and comfort.
