Seating
The standout feature on the Tango is that it comes with both powered tilt and manual recline as standard, for improved comfort and pressure distribution. While other high-end chairs may have these options available, it is not something usually featured as standard. A large number of adjustments can be made to the Tango, including the seat width and depth, the backrest and armrest height, and the width and length of the leg rests. This enables the Tango to be set up to fit the user perfectly, rather than them having to make do with a fixed seat.
Transport
The Tango comes with a fully folding backrest, meaning the wheelchair takes up less room when transporting it in a car. While too heavy to be lifted in and out normally, it is designed to be easy to hoist into vehicles. Tie-down points allow it to be safely transported, and the Tango is fully crash tested too.
Drive base
Rear-wheel drive gives the Tango intuitive driving, while independent drive wheel suspension ensures traction over uneven ground and gives a comfortable ride. While less manoeuvrable indoors than mid-wheel drive powerchairs, the Tango is fairly compact so is still more than capable of being used inside.
Options
A wide range of options are available for the Sunrise Medical Tango, including comfort cushioning, backrests and headrests, a choice of drive wheel size, and power recline. A choice of frame colours includes silver, red and blue.
Our Verdict
The Tango is one of the oldest models remaining in Sunrise Medical's range and it has been largely superseded by the much newer Q200 R, which has the options for both powered tilt and recline, as well as a better designed seating system. We would normally recommend opting for that powerchair instead.
