Turnabout
Choosing a powered wheelchair often involves an initial compromise between manoeuvrability and outdoor performance, with certain wheel configurations favouring one over the other. The Rhythm is unique in that it can be used in either front wheel drive or rear wheel drive - simply rotate the seat and flip the footplate down. This gives you a versatile wheelchair that truly gets the best of both.
Seating
The well-padded captain's style seat is comfortable and supportive to use about your house, or on trips outside. This can be rotated to aid getting on and off your wheelchair, and also features a five inch seat riser. This helps you access the environment around you, and also aids with transfers.
Options
For those that need more support for their legs, swing-away legrests are available as an upgrade, as well as elevating legrests. An attendant control is also an option for an additional cost.
Our Verdict
The Rascal Rhythm SL Powerchair is an updated version of their well-known Turnabout, and is a reliable design that won't let you down. It's a niche product, and comes in more expensive than an equivalent single drive powerchair such as the Jazzy Select 6, but is worth trying out - especially if you have limited space indoors but don't want to compromise on outdoor performance.
