Open Folding Frame
The Progeo Tekna Advance Wheelchair is designed to fold up for transport or storage, but looks nothing like the traditional folding wheelchair. It does away with the bulky dual frame and prominent crossbar usually seen, and instead features a rearward fixed crossbar system that is discreetly hidden under the seat. The shortened folding frame and fixed, integrated front end help to keep weight to a minimum, and closely resemble the lines of a sporty rigid wheelchair.
Style
There's no question about it, Progeo's Tekna Advance is a wheelchair that stands out. It features the elegant sophistication associated with Italian design, and has a choice of four frame colours - black, silver, white and orange - which can be offset with your choice from nine accent colours.
Customisation
Your Tekna Advance will be built to order to precisely match your requirement. At your assessment, our specialists will take your measurements so the Tekna can be built for a precise fit, as well as run over all the options available to match your lifestyle needs. All parts of the wheelchair can be configured - options include ever-popular Spinergy wheels, ergonomic handrims, sports castors, adjustable footrests, carbon sideguards, and a whole array of seating.
While not quite as adjustable as more basic models, the Tekna Advance still has a good amount of adjustability to it, including rear wheel position, backrest height and angle, and front seat height. Supportive backrests can be fitted if required, as well as a wide range of pressure-relieving cushions.
Our Verdict
There's only one folding active wheelchair that is close to the Tekna Advance - Quickie's Xenon2, which has the same clean design to its frame. The Xenon is a little lighter, but also more expensive - we would recommend trying both to see which suits you best.
If you require swing-away legrests instead of a fixed-front, then the Tekna Advance Swing is the model to look at.
