The main difference between the Pride Colt Pursuit ES13 Mobility Scooter and the regular Colt Pursuit is that the tiller controls are the more traditional "buttons and lights" type rather than the digital dashboard and LCD screen of the Colt Pursuit. Additionally, the Pursuit ES13 does not have the option to upgrade its batteries to larger 70 Ah ones. The result of this is that the ES13 has a somewhat shorter range than the regular Pursuit; it also doesn't provide so much information about the scooter's performance (e.g. trip recording). However, the ES13 is still a capable scooter with a decent range for those not looking to go on quite such extensive journeys, and the basic controls are simpler to use.
Front and rear suspension combine well with large 13 inch pneumatic tyres to give the Pursuit ES13 excellent performance outdoors and a comfortable ride. The amply padded captain's-style seat can be adjusted forwards and backwards, the armrests can be widened if needs be, and the backrest can recline. It should be noted that the Pursuit ES13 has a slightly reduced weight capacity of 25 stone, although this will still comfortably accommodate most people.
LED lights and the rear view mirror ensure you retain visibility to stay safe, and the large front basket is ideal for carrying shopping. The wraparound delta tiller is ergonomically shaped to be comfortable to use for extended periods of time. The scooter is available in either silver or black.
Our Verdict
The Pursuit ES13 is decent scooter offering the power and comfort of a large 8 mph scooter at a lower price than most other models. However, the cost savings from the regular Colt Pursuit are not that significant, and most people choose to opt for that instead for the option of the longer range and LCD screen. Alternatively, the Sterling S700 is worth looking at for a similarly priced scooter that features a much longer range than the ES13 and a better ride.
