The Joerns Oxford Switch Standing Aid and Assisted Transfers is a simple but effective standing aid. It encourages the user to participate in standing, which engages their core muscles while also improving strength and function. Designed for use alongside a carer, it can then be manoeuvred after standing, the swivelling corner-mounted castor wheels ensuring excellent manoeuvrability and stability.
The compact size is particular useful in tight spaces, with a cleverly thought through recess on the foot platform allowing easy access to a toilet. The adjustable knee pads help to support you while standing, and an optional belt is available to further aid stability if required.
When not in use, the Switch can be quickly separated into two components that are designed for convenient storage, and will also fit in the back of most cars. The carer's foot support bar also works as an ergonomic carry handle.
Our Verdict
Very similar to Etac's Molift Raiser Pro, the Switch is an effective and reliable standing aid for people who need some assistance with standing, but don't need a fully-fledged powered standing aid that is much larger and more expensive.
