Motion Healthcare are renowned for its innovative high-end boot scooters and the Alumina is the pinnacle of their range. The aluminium chassis means the heaviest part of the scooter is a mere 10 kg - compared to 15+ for conventional boot scooters. This makes your scooter even easier to lift into your car once disassembled.
Coming with Lithium batteries as standard, these weigh just 4 kg and offer a highly impressive 15-mile range. The Alumina Pro upgrade is well worth considering - barely heavier at just 5 kg, this provides a whopping 30-mile range, the longest of any car boot scooter. This lets you drive for more than 7 hours at top speed, meaning your Alumina is assured to do all you could want it to in a day. The Alumina comes with a 5-year warranty to ensure top performance for years.
The light weight of the Alumina is all the more remarkable when you consider the luxurious comfort features available on it. Full front and rear suspension result in a stable, smooth ride, and the long flat deck provides generous leg room for taller drivers.
Our Verdict
There isn't a better boot scooter than the Alumina, particularly if you upgrade to the popular Pro version. While more expensive than conventional boot scooters, it offers so much more - distance, comfort, and ease of transport.
If weight is less of a priority, then the slightly heavier Lithilite from Motion Healthcare is otherwise the same as the Alumina at a lower price - however, we think the light aluminium frame is worth it for the effort it saves you on lifting.
We would suggest trying the Alumina alongside Pride's new equivalent, the Apex Alumalite Plus - a lightweight aluminium-framed boot scooter with full suspension.
