Power base
Mid-wheel drive makes the Pronto M41 incredibly manoeuvrable, able to turn on the spot. Combined with its narrow width, this makes the Pronto an ideal powered wheelchair for indoor use, where it can navigate around tight turns and through narrow spaces. The Pronto M41 does feature SureStep suspension giving it limited outdoor capabilities - ideal for navigating flat solid surfaces. However, it is not a dedicated outdoor wheelchair, and will not cope well with bumpy pavements, slopes or kerbs, meaning that those looking to use their powerchair extensively outdoors should consider an alternative model.
Seating
Two variants of the Pronto M41 Modulite are available - the standard version with manual positioning, and the more advanced powered positioning variant. Both have the same seating options allowing it to be set to the exact width and height needed - providing a perfect fit, as well as taking a range of Matrx or third-party backrests, headrests and cushions (including the option to attach a clinical pressure cushion). This allows the Pronto M41 Modulite to offer a high level of comfort and postural support, ideal for those who will spend longer amounts of time in the chair, or with more complex medical conditions.
The powered positioning version can be supplied with the full range of powered seating options one would expect on a high-end prescriptive powerchair - powered lift, tilt, and recline, as well as powered elevating legrests. Fully crash-tested, the Pronto M41 Modulite (both versions) is suitable for occupied transportation in a suitably adapted vehicle, and comes with tie-down points to enable this.
Additionally, a Teens Modulite version (with either manual or powered positioning) is available for younger users, in seat widths of 12 - 15" and depths of 12 - 22", to accommodate the body shape of adolescents.
Our verdict
Ideal for those that need a high-end powerchair primarily for indoors, with at most some limited outdoor use, the Invacare Pronto M41 is a versatile powerchair able to cater to those with advanced seating needs who don't wish to pay more for outdoor performance they don't require. Similar to the Quickie Hula, the Modulite version of the Pronto is a popular alternative for those looking for seating options not available on the Hula. The other chair to consider is Quantum's Kozmo, which is an extremely compact indoor chair, although this also does not have powered positioning options.
