The Colibri is a stylish and modern scooter with a choice of five colours available (red, green, blue, white, orange), and can be further personalised with a number of upgrades to improve performance and comfort. The 8 inch wheels can be upgraded in size to give a smoother ride over bumpy pavements, while the 12Ah batteries can be changed for higher capacity 18Ah ones to improve the range. Additionally, seat-post suspension is available to offer extra comfort if required. Supplied in a four-wheel version as standard, a three-wheel variant is also available which provides additional manoeuvrability and legroom.
Invacare's LiteLock system means the Colibri can be easily dismantled into five manageable pieces, making it compact for storage or transportation in a vehicle. With the heaviest part being just 15 kilograms, it can be lifted into and out of a car with ease.
The Colibri comes as standard with ergonomic delta handlebars, and the seat can be adjusted in height, as well as the armrests being width-adjustable. A rear basket or crutch holder can be fitted to the back of the scooter if needed.
Finally, the Colibri also comes with a market-leading 2 year warranty (12 months for the batteries), twice the length of the standard warranty found on boot scooters, giving you the peace of mind that it is a quality product that can be relied upon.
Our Verdict
A stylish and modern scooter, the Colibri is ideal for those that want a boot scooter from a premium manufacturer without the expense normally associated with such brands. The customisation options mean that those that require extra features can add them on easily. While it lacks the full suspension found on top of the range boot scooters such as the Apex Rapid and Zest, it offers a step up in quality and comfort from more basic scooters such as the Apex Lite.
We have found that the four-wheel variant is lacking in legroom compared to its competitors - a result of the higher wheel arches. We would therefore suggest that taller people would be better off in the three-wheel variant.
