Built to order
Prescriptive powerchairs such as this are built to order following an assessment with one of our product specialists. This allows us to measure up the wheelchair user so that their powerchair provides a perfect fit for them, as well as demonstrating and assessing for the various seating options. Prescriptive powered wheelchairs can have a vast range of seating options, including powered seating functions such as lift, tilt and recline, and can be fitted with specialist seating solutions such as pressure relieving cushions and posture-supporting backrests.
We can carry out free of charge assessments either at our Chessington HQ where you will have the opportunity to try out our full range of products, or at your home address where we can also assess the environment you will be using the wheelchair in.
Our product specialists are experienced with all aspects of the powered wheelchairs we supply, and can demonstrate and assess for all the options available. Should you wish to have a clinical input as well, for example if you require complex seating solutions, then we can arrange to assess alongside one of our partnered Occupational Therapists - there is a charge for this service.
Following your consultation, we will provide a quote for the powered wheelchair (or wheelchairs) as assessed with you. When you are ready to order we will need to take a 50% non-refundable deposit to commence the build. Prescriptive powerchairs tend to take 2 - 5 weeks to be built - we will advise you of the current build time at the time of order, and keep you updated as the build progresses.
Once your wheelchair has been built, we will deliver it in a Wheelfreedom van to your address. Our product specialist will set up your equipment, making any adjustments necessary to ensure that your chosen powerchair is perfectly fitted for your comfort. They will then demonstrate the wheelchair, so that the you are confident with the controls and how to use it.
We understand that every person is an individual, and that some people may require longer to get used to their new powerchair- particularly if this is the first time they have used one, or they have advanced seating or programming requirements. Our product specialists are experienced with handovers, and will spend as long as necessary to ensure you are comfortable with the equipment.
With prescriptive powered wheelchairs there is often a need for further adjustments within the first few weeks or months, after you have had a chance to use the equipment in your daily life and get used to it, and our specialists will come out to you to make these adjustments.
