Wheelfreedom partners with Klaxon: Unlocking mobility through shared values.

Tue Mar 11 2025

Klaxon was founded in 2015 by two friends, Enrico Boaretto and Andrea Stella, who were inspired by their passion for sailing to create a mobility solution for wheelchair users. As wheelchair users, they aimed to devise a solution to navigate the city as effortlessly as they sailed across the sea.

Etac has recently finalised its acquisition of Klaxon, launching the innovative Klick handbikes in the UK.  As a long-standing partner of Etac, Wheelfreedom has begun prescribing the Klick range to wheelchair users. The partnership between Wheelfreedom and Klaxon is built on their shared values and mission to help wheelchair users gain confidence. Klaxon’s commitment to putting quality and care into the details of every product resonates with the services at Wheelfreedom. The team at Wheelfreedom specialises in providing a tailored solution by carefully considering the details of a customer’s health and lifestyle.

Etac has mentioned, “We are very excited to launch Klaxon’s powered add-on devices to the UK with our strategic partner Wheelfreedom. The Klaxon range is packed full of features geared toward enhanced end-user experience. The devices are very easy to handle with multiple mounting options and the advanced electronics are included to make each ride as enjoyable as possible. We also include the biggest batteries as a standard, so our devices go further straight out of the box.”

Since Klaxon first launched in the UK, the handbikes have been gathering significant traction. Jess, our prescriptive assessor, added, “Within a month, the Klaxon handbikes gained a lot of popularity among our customers and sales for the Klaxon handbikes have been growing since it launched.” The Klaxon handbikes are innovatively unique, its most striking feature is the patented central linking system. Users can seamlessly attach the Klaxon handbike in one ‘click’ and remove the handbike similarly in seconds. By creating an easy user experience, users can feel at their best when travelling through the city or countryside.

Jess particularly notes the aesthetics of the handbike, it comes in sleek lightweight frames for effortless portability. The handbikes are designed to be compact for easy lifting and storage. During the training at Wheelfreedom for the Klaxon range, the assessors were impressed by the hill hold control feature which allows users to secure their wheelchair in place on slopes.
