Wheelfreedom at the Disability Expo 2023

Wed Aug 16 2023

On Thursday, 6th, and Friday, 7th of July, Wheelfredom joined other industry professionals at Excel London to exhibit at The Disability Expo 2023. The UK’s leading person-focused event for people with lived experience of disability.

Disability Expo offers relevant services, products and information – empowering disabled individuals with the tools they need to improve their quality of life. Wheelfredom were proud to exhibit front and centre of the exhibition, offering demonstrations, advice and consultations to wheelchair users and their carers as well as showcasing some of the most innovative specialist mobility products in the industry.

We were very excited to bring along the first M Corpus VS powerchair in the country from our friends at Permobil and demonstrate the fantastic features of this innovative standing chair along with other recent mobility aids.

The unique event plans to return July 5th and 6th 2024, here’s what some of this year’s guests had to say about the welcoming and informative community to be found there.

‘We’re relatively new to the disability community – Angela had an accident in May 22 resulting in a spinal cord injury – now a wheelchair-user. I wasn’t too sure what to expect from Disability Expo. I knew there would be many exhibitors that provided services that wouldn’t apply to us – disability has such a wide range. What I hadn’t expected was just how welcoming everyone was. At most exhibitions, you’re afraid of getting ‘grabbed’ by a salesman selling what you don’t want. That was not what Disability Expo was like. We had lots of fascinating conversations with exhibitors and other visitors, so we left feeling stronger and inspired.’

Richard and Angela Genn

‘Really enjoyed my first ever experience at the Disability Expo! It was so refreshing to be in such an inclusive environment, learn about new technologies and equipment, as well as meeting some great people. Thanks for a great day!’

Leo Aces Collins, The Queer Disabled Coach

‘Must say this Disability Expo was the the best I attended where I felt the genuine warmth as a non disabled person accompanying and observing. I saw for myself Community spirit at its best and I got the feeling most of the participants were so sincere and willing the community. The Venue was simply superb and long may it continue to be every year.

I had the best day at Disability Expo. It was great being able to chat to people about my role as a disabled nurse. But also providing information about my assistance dog and how he helps me. I can’t wait till next year!’
