With the DVLA abolishing paper tax discs from October 1st onwards, we`ve had some questions from customers about how the upcoming changes to tax discs will affect them, so we`ve written this short blog post to explain.
All Class 3 mobility scooters and powered wheelchairs - those that are capable of being driven at 6 or 8 mph on roads, need to be registered with the DVLA. This registration is free of charge, but nonetheless has to be done. Previously a tax disc was sent out upon this registration, which needed to be displayed on the scooter. With the end of paper tax discs, this will no longer be sent out, so you will not need to bring one along with your scooter or wheelchair when out and about.
Unfortunately, scooter and wheelchair registrations still need to be done by filling out a form and posting it to the DVLA, rather than online - hopefully in the next few years, this will change. Please don`t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about these changes.
