We don’t often do three wheeled scooters here at Wheelfreedom, but we have added the Pride Raptor to our ranks recently. With four wheeled scooters being the primary go to in the mobility industry, a three wheeled scooter can offer something different in terms of agility and manoeuvrability.
Four wheeled scooters are generally more popular within the UK as they provide more stability, for both the product itself and the user. Additional to the obvious stability benefits of having a wider front, with two planted wheels at the sides, the user is also be able to rest their feet on the wheel arches of a four wheeled scooter, this can make the user feel more balanced and stable, especially for larger individuals. Despite this, three wheeled scooters do have their benefits. Its manoeuvrability is miles better than a bulkier four wheeled scooter, they will also provide the user with a significantly smaller turning circle making it idea for those riding down narrow streets.
There are very few three wheeled scooters on the market which offer 8 mph speed, making the Raptor one of the quickest of its kind, it is also perfect for those looking to travel a bit further than the local shops as it boasts a 31-mile range. The Raptor can also handle the outside world with relative ease. It has large 16“wheels and both front and rear suspension, meaning if you have a dog, or just like to go around a local common, this scooter can provide a good option. It is also a beneficial option for those who suffer from joint pain or back problems as it comes as standard with a large 20” seat, although the seat does offer some manual adjustments, it cannot rotate, which can be a problem for those who struggle to climb onto the scooter before sitting.
People of any age, or those have never used a scooter before will be able to manage the Raptor, it has a very basic display on top of the tiller which shows information such as the speed, battery life and distance travelled. If you want something simple, with minimal buttons and complications, this scooter gives the user a very basic interface. A lockable storage space under the seat provides enough space to safely store valuables, or a small bit of shopping.
