The new Esprit Action4 NG powerchair, launched by Invacare this summer is now available, and we are proud to be one of the first firms able to offer it. While perhaps not having the catchiest of names, the Esprit Action4 NG certainly has memorable features, and is the first truly car-transportable outdoor capable wheelchair that we`ve come across.
The stand-out innovation on the Esprit Action4 NG is that the motors are built into the drive wheels. This keeps the frame slim, but more importantly means that by removing the wheels – which simply requires one to push and turn – the wheelchair can be broken down into easily manageable parts. The heaviest part, the frame, weighs just 15kg, comparable to a lightweight manual wheelchair, allowing it to be lifted in and out of a car by a single person. The Esprit Action4 NG further surprises as it has the option to fit self-propelled wheels to the frame, meaning it can be quickly and easily switched between being a powered and manual wheelchair.
This is far from the only option available, and a whole host of seating options exist, with seat widths of 15 – 24 inches possible. A paediatric version of the wheelchair is also available – particularly convenient for parents who want to get their child around without the need of a specially adapted car. Like many Invacare products, a choice of frame colours is available, although our preference is for the standard blue-green that matches our website so well!
