Our featured product this week is Invacare`s flagship TDX SP powerchair. With a new narrow-wheelbase version released this year (full name: TDX SP NB – again, not the catchiest from Invacare), it is a fully configurable mid-wheel drive powerchair and compares with Sunrise Medical`s Quickie Salsa and Pride`s Quantum range.
As one would expect, the narrow-based version comes with a slim 24 inch width, meaning that it can fit in tight spaces indoors. This is in contrast to some other dedicated "indoor/outdoor" powerchairs whose width makes them awkward to manoeuvre indoors. Having said that, the TDX still isn`t quite as narrow as Sunrise`s Salsa M, which has a so-far unbeaten 23.5" width.
The TDX SP nonetheless does compete with the Salsa M on price, coming in marginally cheaper. It offers a comparable range of options, with Invacare`s Modulite seating available, as well as the full range of powered options, such as lift and tilt, that one would expect on a high-end powerchair.
