We have recently added the Sunrise Medical Breezy Ibis Tilt in Space Wheelchair to our ranks. This is available as an alternative to our ever-popular Invacare Rea Azalea. Both provide the same 30 degrees of tilt and have recline options as standard, but the Breezy Ibis offers a range of additional options which the Rea Azalea just doesn’t have.
The first thing most people notice about the Ibis is its look. Where most Tilt in Space chairs are quilt bulky and old fashioned looking, the Ibis catches the eye with a much more modern and minimalist aesthetic. For those who are a bit more image conscious the Ibis is the direction you would want to go. The minimalist approach also allows for fewer chunky parts and a less clinical aesthetic. This is further cemented by the centre mounted footplate which comes as standard on the Ibis, however swing away leg rests are also available.
A feature which makes the Ibis stand out over most tilt in space wheelchairs is the number of user options which are available. As standard the Ibis functions as a transit or foot propelled wheelchair, but it can be manufactured as self-propelled or with different powered capabilities. Two powered options are available with the Ibis as an alternative to the standard transit and self-propelled manual options. A Power Support version of the Ibis is available which effectively has a powerpack built into the chair, which gives assistance to the attendant, taking the effort out of pushing the wheelchair forwards or backwards. It has an in-built braking system, which means that when you release the lever the wheelchair stops, so you don’t have to worry about the chair going off ahead of you. The Powerdrive version uses the same system but allows the attendant to fully control the direction of the wheelchair, moving forwards, backwards and turning.
What sets this tilt in pace wheelchair apart from others is the Sedeo Pro seating system, exclusive to Sunrise Medical. The Sedeo seating system will be familiar to those who use powered wheelchairs, the system is known for its adjustability, comfort and support. The Sedeo Pro system includes different types of backrests, alternative armrests, leg rests & headrests and many more options which assist with whatever need the user may have.
The Ibis is available as a purchase only, so we would advise booking in a consultation with one of our product specialist to ensure this is the right product for you.
