Invacare TDX SP2 NB

The Invacare TDX SP2 NB is a high-performance powerchair designed for active people looking to get around both indoors and out. With a narrow wheelbase and mid-wheel drive, it balances top-level manoeuvrability indoors with impressive outdoor capabilities. The seating on the TDX SP2 NB is fully configurable, with a wide range of options allowing it to be set up exactly to the needs of the wheelchair user, while a number of additional powered options are available, such as lift, tilt and recline.

Product Description

Power base and controls

The narrow base (NB) version of the TDX SP2 has an overall width of just 24 inches (61 cm), making it narrower than most manual wheelchairs, and great for getting around inside. Mid-wheel drive allows the wheelchair to turn on the spot, as well as offering greater stability outdoors along with the automatic Stability Lock system. Patented SureStep technology ensures that all six wheels remain on the ground at all time, giving fantastic performance outdoors, complemented by the full suspension. Modern LinX adaptable controls come as standard, and have the option for a touch-screen REM400 remote, and the powerful motors can be upgraded to a 6 mph speed if required.

Seating

While the TDX SP2 comes as standard with a tension-adjustable backrest and standard seat, the full range of Invacare's Modulite seating system can be fitted, giving postural support and comfort that can be set up to the needs of any user. The full complement of powered options that one would expect on such a high-end wheelchair are available, including powered lift, tilt, recline and powered elevating legrests. The modular nature of the wheelchair also allows adjustment at a later date, should your requirements change. Additionally, a Teens Modulite version is available for younger users, in seat widths of 12 - 15" and depths of 12 - 22", to accommodate the body shape of adolescents.

Style

The TDX range has been refreshed with a stylish new look, including a choice of 10 shroud colours and 10 wheel insert colours, given you 100 possible colour combinations for your chair.

Our verdict

Ideal for those that require a top performing wheelchair that balances indoor and outdoor performance, the TDX is also surprisingly affordable compared to other equivalent powerchairs. It is especially suited for people after a wheelchair that can be set up exactly to their requirements, and which can also be adapted at a later date should their needs change.

If considering the TDX, we would also recommend looking at Sunrise Medical's Quickie Q500 M, which occupies the same position in the Quickie range, Permobil's M3 Corpus, and Quantum's Q6 Edge 3.

Prescriptive powerchairs such as this are built to order following an assessment with one of our Prescriptive Assessors. They are available with a wide range of customisation options, including powered seating functions, cushions and backrests, and drive performance upgrades, and these can affect the price - our Prescriptive Assessors will run through all the options at your assessment. As a general guideline, opting for multiple powered seating functions can add significantly to the cost of the wheelchair; however it is possible to get a fully functioning and desirable chair at the base price!

People purchasing powered wheelchairs will often qualify for zero-rated VAT. If the person using the wheelchair has a permanent disability, terminal illness or chronic sickness then they will be eligible for 0% VAT.
